Gong Meditation Therapy

Everything on earth vibrates, and vibrations creates frequencies of sound. Everything, even down to the molecular level of atoms, is in constant motion and thus creating vibrations and frequencies of their own. Sound therapy, such as gong mediation, acts on these vibrations and frequencies to promote tranquility and peace.

Sound therapies have been used for thousands of years by cultures all over the world for healing. Certain frequencies are recognized as having healing potentials and for balancing positive and negative energies.

Sound has a tremendous effect on humans both physically and emotionally. This is most evident in the example of certain songs invoking strong emotions and having the ability to change your overall emotional state; however, sounds of all frequencies, both heard and unheard, have the power to affect the rhythm of our bodies and our psychological well being.

The goal of Gong mediation, just like other meditations and spiritual practices, is to create an inner peace and bring about heightened awareness and self-respect.

What is a Gong Bath?

gong

Our new 34” gong!!

A gong bath is a meditative practice in which an individual lies on their back while the gong is played in a therapeutic way to promote health. The participant is ‘bathed’ in the sounds of the gong, where the frequencies produce the effect of tranquility and relaxation.

The brain operates on frequencies; our normal conscious state operates on Beta frequency (12-30 Hz). A gong meditation induces Alpha and Theta brainwave frequencies. Alpha waves (8-12 Hz) are present in states of relaxation such as daydreaming or use of imagination. Theta waves (4-7 Hz) are present during dream sleep or deep mediation. Sometimes, even Delta waves (.5-4 Hz), which are associated with deep sleep and other unconscious states, can be achieved.

The sounds of the gong resonate in every cell of our bodies in a powerful and effective way. The gong stimulates the glandular (endocrine) system and acts as an ideal tool for stress reduction.

The goal of gong mediation is to put the user in a deep state of consciousness where healing can occur.
